When buying a house, especially for the first time buyer like myself, it is a very scary thing, since this is a big commitment, and it take time to go through the process, and it is almost like a business. So you don't want to just find a good realtor agent, you want to find a good business partner, who would look out for you as the same way she would for herself. Jingli (Julie) is such an agent that truly trying to figure out what is important for me, and patiently guide me through the process, and genuinely treating my buying business as her own business.
I bought my first house about 8 months after meeting Julie for the first time. Before Julie, I tried 3 different agents from big name agencies. What I found that these other agents have in common is the fact that I am just another customer to them. Every interaction was very structured and streamlined. They are accomplished agents, and they buy/sell a lot of properties, and they are very personable, they also seem very patient. But on a deeper level, there is a nagging feeling on the back of my head that they just want me to buy everytime they show me a house. And I would consider myself a very analytical, cautious, and sometimes even overly-skeptical to error of the safe side person. All those years of engineering training made me so.
However, over the 8 months working with Julie, I became convinced that she has taken my house buying business to heart. She worked very hard with me and trying to help me understand what fits me. I cannot remember how many properties she showed me, probably at least over 50. She knew some of the properties well, and she didn't know other. For those she knew well, she would provide an assessment to me before we head down to see it; for those she didn't, she would point out the pros and cons as we went through the property. You can see that she was really thinking for me.
She knows the housing market very well. There were a couple of properties that I really liked, but I didn't want to fall into the pitfall of emotional buying, I kept my offer low, even though that was against her advice. She still tried to negotiate for me, but every such property was snatched by others at similar price she suggested. This property I bought, I initially offered higher price, but her judgement was that I could offer lower price. And well, the seller did accept her suggested price. I was really happy. After the inspection, she kept on negotiating for me to bring down the price even more for some minor issues.
So if you want someone who is not only knowledgeable of housing market, responsive to your concerns/needs, and really looking after for your interest, I highly recommend Julie Zhang.
